Wedding guest told her to get out of yellow dress that looked white under black lights: ‘Too embarrassed’

Here comes the angry bride ̶ ̶b̶r̶i̶d̶e̶.

A wedding guest was left feeling “hugely embarrassed” after a bridesmaid asked her to leave the reception because her yellow dress looked white under black lights.

The unexpected incident was recently shared on Reddit “Am I the a–hole?” table with a woman asking her if she was in the wrong for not following the rules of etiquette.

Over the summer, the guest claimed to be wearing a bumble bee yellow hooped dress that looked similar to the one Belle wore in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Initially, she “didn’t question whether it was appropriate.”

“I arrive at the wedding, we have the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the dinner and the reception. “I get so many compliments on the dress and the bride comments several times how much she loves it,” the Reddit user wrote.

Things took a turn for the dance party during the end of the reception when the venue dimmed the normal lights and turned on black lights that made her yellow dress look “more white than yellow.”

A bridesmaid, who was a family member, noticed the transformed outfit under the black lights and called her dress “white”, describing it as “inappropriate”.

“I stated the dress was yellow, but the black lights were making it look white. The member of the wedding party stated that if I didn’t leave, she would ‘do me,’” the Reddit user added.

During the “tense” argument, the guest repeatedly insisted that her dress was yellow and not white and eventually the bridesmaid approached the groom and “angrily” pointed at him, but the new husband ignored the drama and continued to danced

“The next morning I was approached by another friend at breakfast (not in the wedding party) who said they heard what happened and that I should leave when asked because it made people ‘uncomfortable’ and that I I did it for me. parties’ instead of ‘respecting wedding etiquette’,” complained the guest.

The whole ordeal left her very self-conscious, so she asked social media users if she was the only one to skip the wedding when she was told.

Most commenters online agreed that she was doing nothing wrong.

One person wrote that the row was “ridiculous” because no one checks their outfit under black lights to make sure they don’t outstage the bride.

Another suggested that they should have just turned off the black lights so this wouldn’t be a problem.

“Pretty elegant dress for a wedding guest. I’m sure it looked just like a wedding dress in the black light,” said one user.

The woman had been seeing the bride and groom since their wedding and neither of them mentioned anything about her outfit, so she wondered if the bridesmaid was “just being protective and doing what she thought was right.”
