Chris Wallace lists DC home for $6.4 million just days after announcing his shocking departure from CNN

Veteran broadcaster Chris Wallace is saying goodbye to his Washington, D.C. residency as he lists his stately home in the Kalorama neighborhood for $6.4 million.

The CNN anchor, who announced his departure from the news network on Tuesday, is also now leaving the 1929 Georgian Revival mansion he and his wife, Lorraine, have called home since buying it for 1.1 million dollars in 1997 – the same year they tied the knot. joint, the Wall Street Journal reports.

(By Friday, however, Puck News reported that Wallace was the first network star to be fired from CNN as the network faces layoffs following low ratings on Election Day. He was reportedly offered an analyst role for much more less than his $7 million salary and turned it down.)

At nearly 7,000 square feet, the home is steeped in history, with four bedrooms, a grand entrance with classical columns, and formal rooms tailored to entertain Washington’s elite.

Wallace, who previously hosted “Fox News Sunday,” fondly remembers hosting high-profile figures, including the late Sen. Ted Kennedy and Justice Antonin Scalia. Hollywood actor George Clooney, whom Wallace counts as a friend, has also sipped wine at the property.

The couple plans to make their Annapolis, Maryland property their primary residence, where Lorraine operates a small business supplying fresh produce to local restaurants.

However, they will keep a smaller home in DC.

Reflecting on the neighborhood, Wallace noted Kalorama’s unique mix of power players across the political spectrum, where even Michelle Obama has been spotted walking the dogs.

“Regardless of political differences, or feelings about what someone said on television about someone else, we’re neighbors in Kalorama,” he told the Journal.

The house, designed for both elegance and comfort, features a spacious living room with a bay window and an 18th-century marble booth.

The second floor is more private, offering bedrooms and a cozy office, while the lower level is equipped with a gym and a guest suite.

Wallace said: “I would go out with my boys on the weekend and play football in the street.”

The Wallaces made minimal changes over the years, the most significant being a remodel of the kitchen where Lorraine, a cookbook author, worked up her recipes.

“I was a very happy guinea pig,” Wallace said.

During his announcement about his departure, Wallace said he intended to return from cable news to explore opportunities in podcasting and broadcasting.

He joined CNN in 2021 to work on CNN+, a platform that was shut down shortly after launch. He then hosted two major network shows.

“CNN was very nice to me, but [cable] it was never what I signed up for,” he said.
